For its upcoming all-electric version of the C3 hatchback, Citroen has confirmed the eC3 moniker. The Citroen eC3 EV will be launched in the market in January 2023. It will be locally manufactured and will also be available for the export to markets abroad.

Citroen eC3: powertrain and battery details

Chinese firm Svolt will source a 30.2 kWh battery pack that will power eC3 however, Citroen is thinking to localize ec3 in a longer run. The Citroen EV will receive a 3.3kW onboard AC charger which will be made capable of CCS2 fast charging. eC3’s front-axle-mounted electric motor is capable to produce 143Nm and 63kW (86hp) of peak torque.eC3 without deviating, is aiming at the launch of Tata Tiago EV which is powered by a 24 kWh battery pack in the higher spec for an ARAI -rated range of 315 km. The Ec3 hence is speculated to have an ARAI -rated range of 350 km.

Exterior, interior will remain same to make it cost effective

The appearance of eC3 will look quite similar to its ICE counterpart, inside out. The only exterior change that can be seen is that there will be no tailpipe and a new charging port is given on the front fender. The interior, meanwhile, will see a reformed centre console, along with a new drive controller that is going to replace the manual gear lever. All other exterior body panels, mechanicals and interior, which have already been localised for the petrol-fueled C3, will remain same.

In order to optimize prices and sharing parts and components for the eC3 with its ICE counterpart this reforms has been made. This is for the betterment for the economies. Citroen is hell bent to set the price range of car competitively as EVs are facing challenges in the market in terms of pricing. It is speculated that price will be around Rs 10 lakh – Rs 12 lakh, however, no price range has been hinted by the company.Citroen is planning to export the eC3 from India, which will be significant in giving a boost-up to overall eC3 vehicles that have been upsetting low as per segment standards.
