Ducati has opened bookings for the DesertX Discovery in India ahead of its launch. Positioned between the standard and Rally variants.
Ducati has officially opened bookings for the highly anticipated DesertX Discovery in India, generating excitement ahead of its imminent launch. The Italian motorcycle giant announced the development through its social media platforms, hinting at the arrival of yet another adventure-ready machine in its lineup. Positioned between the standard DesertX and the more extreme Rally variant, the Discovery edition is set to offer a perfect blend of off-road capability and touring practicality. The adventure-focused motorcycle will carry an ex-showroom price of approximately Rs 21 lakh.
The DesertX Discovery is engineered to elevate off-road riding experiences, combining advanced technology with top-tier performance. Ducati enthusiasts can now secure their unit by placing a booking at authorised dealerships. The official launch is expected to draw significant attention, as Ducati continues to expand its presence in the growing Indian adventure motorcycle segment. The bike's rugged design, premium features, and off-road prowess make it a compelling choice for riders seeking a blend of thrill and versatility.
Design-wise, the DesertX Discovery maintains the familiar silhouette of the standard model but distinguishes itself with a striking black and red paint scheme. Functional additions enhance its adventure-readiness, including a robust bull-bar protection system for the fuel tank and water pump, a larger touring windscreen, an expansive belly guard, a radiator guard, and a centre stand. The bike is also equipped with aluminium hard-case panniers, an engine bash plate, and heated grips, making it a well-rounded package for long-distance touring and challenging terrains.
Under the hood, the DesertX Discovery is powered by Ducati’s renowned 937cc liquid-cooled Testastretta V-twin engine. This motor churns out an impressive 108 bhp at 9,250 rpm and 92 Nm of peak torque at 6,500 rpm. Power delivery is managed through a six-speed gearbox, enhanced with an up-and-down quick-shifter for seamless and efficient gear transitions.
The suspension setup is one of the bike’s standout features, with a fully adjustable Kayaba system allowing riders to fine-tune preload, rebound, and compression for optimal handling. The front end features a 230mm travel inverted fork, while the rear benefits from a 220mm travel monoshock. This combination ensures exceptional comfort and control across varying terrains.
Rolling on a 21-inch front spoke wheel and an 18-inch rear wheel, the DesertX Discovery is equipped with Pirelli Scorpion Rally STR tyres, offering superior traction on and off the road. Braking duties are handled by a high-performance system comprising dual 320mm front discs with Brembo M50 monobloc callipers and a 265mm rear disc with two-piston callipers, ensuring excellent stopping power.
In terms of technology, Ducati has left no stone unturned. The DesertX Discovery boasts full-LED lighting and a dual five-inch TFT-LCD display setup, featuring turn-by-turn navigation and smartphone connectivity. Ducati will provide free navigation services for up to five years, after which users will need to subscribe for continued access.
The motorcycle also offers an array of electronic rider aids, including three dedicated on-road riding modes and two off-road-specific modes. Additional features include traction control, multiple power modes, engine brake control, wheelie control, cornering ABS, cruise control, and heated grips, ensuring safety and comfort in diverse riding conditions.
With its impressive mix of rugged design, cutting-edge technology, and outstanding performance, the Ducati DesertX Discovery is set to be a game-changer in the adventure motorcycle category. As anticipation builds, enthusiasts eagerly await its official launch, which promises to be a significant milestone in Ducati’s expansion within the Indian market.
