We will find out which one is a better car for you by making comparisons between the two top-selling models.
All New Innova HyCross launched by Toyota Kirloskar Motor is a uniquely designed vehicle that combines the more muscular SUV-inspired design with the spaciousness of an MPV.
The Mahindra XUV700 is a compact crossover SUV launched by the Indian automobile manufacturer Mahindra & Mahindra in August 2021. It has been articulately styled to match the solid build quality of the SUV.
Should you buy Toyota Innova Hycross or Mahindra XUV700? We will find out which one is a better car for you by making comparisons between the two top-selling models. The comparison will be made on the basis of their features and key specifications.
The mileage of the Innova Hycross Petrol version is 16.13 km/l and the mileage of the Innova Hycross Hybrid (Electric + Petrol) version is 23.24 km/l.
The XUV700 Petrol version has a reported mileage of 10.00 km/l for city driving and 13.17 km/l for highway driving. The reported mileage of the XUV700 Diesel version is 14.13 km/l for city driving and 18.00 km/l for highway driving.
Dimensions The Innova Hycross is 4,755 mm in length, 1,850 mm in width and 1,795 mm in height. It has an impressive wheelbase of 2,850 mm and a ground clearance of 185 mm. The length of the XUV700 is 4,695 mm, the width is 1,890 mm and the height is 1,755 mm.
In terms of size, the Toyota Innova Hycross is almost a size larger than the Mahindra XUV700 as the Japanese MPV is 940 mm taller and 60 mm longer than the XUV700. Additionally, the Innova Hycross will have more space compared to the XUV700 because it has a wheelbase that is 100 mm longer than XUV700.
However, in terms of width, the XUV700 is 40 mm wider than the Toyota Innova Hycross. Apart from that the Innova Hycross also comes with a 300-litre boot, which is 240 litres more than what you get from the Mahindra XUV700.
While the Mahindra XUV700 is available in 2.0-litre petrol and a 2.2-litre diesel engine, the Toyota Innova Hycross comes in a 2.0-litre petrol and a 2.0-litre hybrid engine. The Hybrid version has the latest 5th Generation Self-Charging Strong Hybrid Electric System
As Highcross has a hybrid powertrain, the engine of the Innova Hycross delivers higher power as compared to XUV700. The XUV700, on the other hand, performs better in terms of power and torque with petrol and diesel powertrains.
The gearbox options in the Mahindra XUV700 include both 6-speed manual transmission or a 6-speed automatic gearbox that can be specified with both petrol and diesel powertrains. However, it is worth mentioning that the base diesel engine only comes with 6-speed manual transmission.
Toyota does not give many options when it comes to gearboxes. The petrol-only variant of the Innova Hycross is equipped with a CVT (Continuously Variable Transmission) gearbox, whereas the Strong Hybrid version of the model comes with an e-CVT gearbox. The e-CVT gearbox allows the Innova Hycross to seamlessly shift into pure EV mode as well.
A CVT transmission, or continuously variable transmission, effortlessly changes through an unending range of effective gear ratios while driving, whereas other kinds of mechanical transmissions offer a fixed number of gear ratios.
The Toyota Innova Hycross has a wide range of features that include a large panoramic sunroof and roof-mounted rear AC vents. The driver seat is powered with a memory function, digital instrument console and 10.73 cm MID in a non-hybrid variant.
Along with automatic climate control, it has a 10.1-inch touchscreen infotainment display that is equipped with Android Auto & Apple CarPlay. JBL speaker system, and middle row ottoman captain chairs, are included along with many other advanced features.
The Mahindra XUV700 is equipped with modern technology and a wide range of features that include a 10.2-inch touchscreen infotainment system, a digital instrument cluster screen equipped with wireless Apple CarPlay and Android Auto.
There is a large panoramic sunroof and a powered driver seat with memory function. The SUV has dual-zone climate control, a 3D 12-speaker Sony sound system, TPMS, and many other connected car features.
In terms of features, both the Mahindra XUV700 and the upcoming Toyota Innova Hycross comes with the latest infotainment units with Apple CarPlay and Android, panoramic sunroof and electrically adjustable front seats. However, the Innova Hycross comes with a better 2nd row as it is equipped with Ottoman-style seats.
The Toyota Innova Hycross has the Toyota Safety Sense System ADAS, which includes features like lane trace assist, rear cross traffic alert, blind spot monitoring, pre-collision system, auto high beam, and others. The Innova Hycross also comes with six airbags, vehicle stability control, ABS with EBD, an electronic parking brake, a panoramic view monitor with dynamic back guidance, and ISOFIX child seat mounts.
The Mahindra XUV700 is considered to be one of the safest SUVs available in the Indian market. The XUV700 is equipped with an ADAS system that includes lane keep assist, adaptive cruise control, a 360-degree camera, collision detection, automatic emergency braking, and other features. The SUV also has seven airbags, ABS with EBD, an automatic parking brake, ESP, ISOFIX child seat mounts, and other safety features.
Both the Mahindra XUV700 and Toyota Innova Hycross are equipped with a wide range of safety features that include multiple airbags, ABS, EBD, traction control (TC), ESP, ISOFIX anchoring points, 360-degree surround-view camera, parking sensors, and many more. On top of that, both the models come with ADAS as well.
The price of Mahindra XUV700 ranges from Rs 13.45 Lakh (ex-showroom) for MX (Petrol) variant while the starting price for Toyota Innova Hycross is Rs 18.30 Lakh (ex-showroom) for G 7 STR (Petrol) variant.
The Innova Hycross's strong hybrid model is expected to range between Rs 25.00 Lakh to Rs 30.00 Lakh (ex-showroom).
Mahindra AX7 AT Luxury Pack is available at Rs 27,13,976 while Toyota ZX(O) Hybrid is available at Rs 33,56,608
The Toyota Innova is renowned for its spacious and comfortable cabin. It is expected that the Innova Hycross will be equally spacious and with comfortable seats. The Innova Hycross is an ideal choice for people who want to enjoy the ride in the spacious cabin of a car with good leg space. Redesigned middle rows will add to the comfort of the people sitting in the car.
For best self-driving experience, the Mahindra XUV700 is a reliable and powerful SUV.
If we compare the pricing of the two cars, the XUV700 is relatively less expensive than the Innova Hycross.
There is no doubt that Mahindra XUV700 is an impressive SUV, and the long waiting periods prove the success of the SUV in the Indian automobile market. However, Toyota Innova Hycross seems to be equipped with a better overall package as it has a future-proof powertrain, more spacious 2nd-row seating, and more usable luggage space.
