With an aggressive design, distinctive interior, and impressive performance, this luxury SUV is set to make waves in the global market.
Luxury car manufacturer BMW has recently introduced the high-performance variant of its new third-generation X1 SUV, known as the BMW X1 M35i xDrive, in the global market. Following the successful launch of the standard X1 in India earlier this year, BMW enthusiasts eagerly anticipate whether the German automaker will bring this powerful iteration to the Indian market. Slated to be available for sale internationally in October, the BMW X1 M35i xDrive is set to redefine the entry-level luxury SUV segment.
The BMW X1 M35i xDrive features a striking and aggressive appearance, characterized by a prominent glossy black kidney grille at the front, flanked by LED corona ring headlamps with LED daytime running lights. The front bumper showcases bold sculpting, housing large black intakes and distinct masculine creases. The sleek side profiles maintain a clean aesthetic, while the SUV rides on either 19-inch gloss grey painted wheels or optional 20-inch wheels that enhance its visual appeal.
The wheels are equipped with eye-catching red brake callipers. At the rear, the sculpted tailgate features a deep cut running across the centre, connecting the taillights. Furthermore, the SUV's masculine charm is further amplified by the presence of a massive black diffuser and quad-round-tipped exhausts.
Inside the cabin, the BMW X1 M35i xDrive presents a highly distinctive interior compared to its standard sibling. Optional M sport seats provide a sporty and luxurious feel, complemented by an Alcantara-trimmed instrument panel and an anthracite-coloured roof liner. Adding to its appeal is the latest iDrive 9 infotainment system, featuring a redesigned home screen and an improved menu structure inspired by consumer electronic devices. This combination of luxury, sportiness, and advanced technology creates an immersive driving experience for occupants.
Under the hood, the BMW X1 M35i xDrive boasts an updated high-power version of a 2.0-liter four-cylinder engine, delivering impressive performance. This power mill generates a peak power output of 312 horsepower between 5,750 and 6,500 revolutions per minute, while producing a peak torque of 400 Nm between 2,000 and 4,500 revolutions per minute. Power is efficiently transmitted through a seven-speed dual-clutch transmission and BMW's xDrive system, which ensures power is distributed to all four wheels. As a result, the BMW X1 M35i xDrive accelerates from 0 to 96 kmph in just 5.2 seconds, with a top speed of 250 kmph.
While the BMW X1 M35i xDrive is set to hit international markets in October, its availability in the Indian market remains uncertain. Given the increasing demand for high-performance luxury SUVs in India, it will be intriguing to see if BMW decides to introduce this powerful variant to cater to the preferences of Indian car enthusiasts. Should the BMW X1 M35i xDrive make its way to India, it is sure to captivate the market with its combination of aggressive styling, luxurious interior, and exhilarating performance.
