The Ampere Nexus retains some of its design elements from the NXG while it looks so different from the concept model showcased by Ampere as it doesn’t have any single-sided swing arm instead it gets a traditional-looking conventional swing arm. The newly launched electric scooter gets vents for better air supply to the mechanicals. If we compare Ather Nexus with other contenders in its segment, it looks much bigger and different.
Apart from this, the new electric scooter can be purchased in four colour options- Zanskar Aqua, Indian Red, Steel Grey and Lunar White.
As far as the features are concerned, the electric scooter comes with LED lights all around which are claimed to be the brightest in the segment by Ampere. The Nexus ST gets a 7-inch touchscreen TFT display that supports Bluetooth connectivity. Riders can also connect their mobile phone to the digital console, and they can answer their calls or see messages. Another useful feature is the turn-by-turn navigation feature which enables easy navigation.
On the other hand, the Nexus EX features a smaller 6.2-inch LCD panel with limited features. Apart from this, it lacks turn-by-turn navigation, auto day/night mode for the screen and music controls.
The Ampere Nexus comes equipped with a 4kW electric motor which enables this scooter to run with a top speed of 93 kmph in the provided “Power” mode. If you drive in the “City” and Eco modes, the scooter goes up to 63 kmph and 42 kmph respectively. There’s also a new mode called “Limp Home” mode which automatically gets on when the scooter’s battery drops below 20 percent. Additionally, the scooter also has a reverse mode like other electric scooters available in the market.
The Ampere Nexus gets a 3kWh battery pack which is an IP67 certified unit. This battery allows Nexus to provide a maximum range of up to 136 km. According to the manufacturer, this battery pack takes three hours to charge completely. Ampere has used an LFP-type battery in the Nexus electric scooter which is aimed to provide better safety and thermal stability. The company also provides a free of cost 15A charger with the electric scooter and if you want to reduce the charging time to some extent, you can buy a faster 25A fast charger by paying extra amount.
The Ampere Nexus starts at Rs. 1.10 lakh during the introductory offers, but it is worth noting that the prices will be hiked by Rs.10000 on each variant post the introductory offers.
Talking about the variant-wise prices, Currently, the Ampere Nexus is priced at Rs. 1.10 lakh and the top-end variant comes with a price tag of Rs, 1.20 lakh. All prices are ex-showroom.
The Ampere Nexus heralds a significant step forward in India's electric scooter landscape, boasting commendable performance and innovative features. While its design may not fully match initial expectations, its robust powertrain, impressive range, and thoughtful additions like turn-by-turn navigation make it a compelling choice. Despite its premium pricing, the Nexus offers a promising glimpse into the future of electric mobility in India.
