The TVS Ronin is competing against some well-known opponents in the modern-classic market, which primarily plays between 250 and 350 cc. How does it compete with them on price? Let's look at it.
With the Ronin, TVS Motor Company made its debut in the lifestyle motorcycle market. The production version of the Zeppelin R concept, which calls itself modern-retro and draws inspiration from several segments, and really looks interesting. The 225 cc model aspires to be a hybrid of a cruiser, a scrambler, and more. And on July 10, when we publish our evaluation, we will address all of your questions and worries. The TVS Ronin competes against several well-known opponents in the modern-classic market, which primarily plays between 250-350 cc. The TVS Ronin price starts at Rs. 1.49 lakh and increases up to Rs. 1.70 lakh (ex-showroom). How does it compare to the options available in this market? Let's look at it.
The Bullet 350 is undoubtedly the most recognizable motorcycle in this market, and this segment is definitely ruled by Royal Enfield. The 346 cc single-cylinder, air-cooled engine on the bike is still recognizable and is adjusted to produce 19.1 horsepower at 5,250 rpm and 28 Nm of maximum torque at 4,000 rpm. A 5-speed gearbox is connected to the motor. Prices range from Rs. 1.48 lakh for the base version to Rs. 1.63 lakh for the Electric Start variant (ex-showroom, Delhi). The Ronin, in contrast, has a 125 cc smaller engine, better gear, and is also lighter. The triple-tone Ronin is more expensive, but prices for both models are comparable.
The Jawa 42, a similarly contemporary product, will put pressure on the Ronin. The motorcycle has a 293 cc single-cylinder engine tuned to produce peak torque and horsepower of 27, both of which are higher than those of the Ronin. Depending on the version you prefer, it also has blacked-out and chrome styling themes. Single-channel and dual-channel ABS versions of the Jawa 42 are each priced at Rs. 1.72 lakh and Rs. 1.81 lakh (ex-showroom), respectively.
The Bajaj Dominar 250 is a close competitor to the TVS Ronin in terms of features. The Dominar is a hybrid cruiser/sports bike that offers a comfortable ride and a potent 249 cc single-cylinder, liquid-cooled motor derived from KTM. With a 6-speed transmission, the engine produces a peak torque of 23.5 Nm at 6,500 rpm and roughly 27 horsepower at 8,500 rpm. The Dominar 250, although being heavy, dazzles on the highway with its road manners and comes equipped with high-end features like USD forks, monoshock suspension, LED lighting, dual-channel ABS, and more. The bike is only slightly more expensive than the top-spec Ronin at Rs. 1.75 lakh (ex-showroom, Delhi).
The Bajaj Avenger 220, the first and arguably the most popular low-cost cruiser on the market, is still a strong seller over twenty years after it was introduced. The motorcycle has consistently maintained its appeal because of how simple it is to ride and how affordable it is. At 8,500 rpm, the Avenger 220 cc single-cylinder DTS-i engine is set to produce 19 horsepower, and at 7,000 rpm, it produces its maximum torque of 17.55 Nm. The fuel-injected engine is mated to a 5-speed transmission. With telescopic forks, an analogue instrument cluster, and single-channel ABS, the cruiser is less well-equipped than Ronin. Priced at Rs. 1.38 lakh, it is also significantly more reasonable (ex-showroom, Delhi).
