Kwid vs. Wagon R Comparison
Generally, one expects a hatchback to be a short and compact vehicle. But, if you see the Renault Kwid, you will be in for a surprise because the Kwid has a stunning presence with a height of nearly 1500mm. The SUV-like stance can make heads turn every time you see the Kwid on the roads.
When it comes to tallboy looks for a hatchback, nothing can be taller than the Maruti Wagon R. The Maruti Suzuki Wagon R is as tall as the S-Presso and comfortably taller than the Kwid with a height of 1620mm. Moreover, the new revamped Maruti Suzuki Wagon R comes with advanced features to justify its higher pricing.
Exterior Looks
The Renault Kwid is a compact car that comes in six gorgeous colors. Besides, the car is available in two dual-tone colours. The new grille design with the LED DRLs flanking it at the sides looks exciting. The power headlamps positioned below the DRLs are at a lower height when compared to other cars, like the Wagon R. However, they illuminate the road ahead comfortably. The flared wheel arches with the black skirting that runs across the sides and extends to the front and back bumpers add to the attraction quotient.
The Maruti Suzuki Wagon R comes in six beautiful colours as it stands tall in your garage, rivalling the taller SUVs and other vehicles on the road. This tallboy design has been a characteristic of the old Wagon R carried forward to the new version. The wide stance makes the Wagon R look sturdy and strikingly attractive simultaneously. The standard front grille and the unique headlamp design help you to identify the Wagon R from a distance. In addition, the body-coloured ORVMs and bumpers add to the vehicle's elegance.
Interiors and Comfort
When it comes to the interiors, the Kwid is surprisingly spacious for a small and compact hatchback. The abundant 279L boot space is expandable to more than 600L when you fold the seats. It can accommodate sufficient luggage while you go on long trips on the Kwid. The soft and comfortable upholstery is refreshingly luxurious for a car in this pricing bracket. The Kwid features a decent infotainment system that provides the driver with the information required to ensure a safe drive. Besides, it provides the perfect entertainment for the car occupants.
As the Wagon R is a tall vehicle, it offers spacious interiors. The steering wheel is placed at a perfect height, and the driver's seat position gives the driver an imposing view of the road ahead. The tall stance allows the occupants to comfortably sit erect without crouching as they do on shorter vehicles like the Alto. The beige-coloured upholstery and glove compartment linings gel perfectly with the black-coloured dashboard and steering wheel. In addition, the Wagon R comes equipped with a dynamically crafted instrument panel with a state-of-the-art infotainment system. The Smart Play Dock system transforms your smartphone into a touchscreen interface, allowing you to access calls, listen to music, and help in navigation.
Engine and Performance
The Kwid offers three engine options in the 0.8L SCe Petrol and two 1.0L SCe Petrol (Easy-R and MT) engines for its different variants. The STD variant runs on a smaller engine that delivers decent power of 54ps and torque of 72Nm. The 1.0L engines deliver higher power of 68ps and torque of 91Nm. The STD version pairs with a manual transmission option, whereas the RXT(O) mates with an Easy – RAMT system that offers an exciting clutch-free driving experience.
While the Kwid offers 0.8L and 1.0L engine options, the Wagon R is powerfully equipped with a 1.2L K-Series Petrol engine to ensure high fuel efficiency and unmatched driving performance. Furthermore, this engine works with a 5-speed manual transmission system and an AGS system that enhances driving pleasure by doing away with clutch operations. As a result, the MT petrol engine delivers a mileage performance of 20.52kmpl, whereas the AGS version matches it perfectly.
Ride, Handling, and Safety
The Kwid is an ideal vehicle to drive on city roads. It comes with a robust braking system with ABS and EBD to allow the driver to control the vehicle properly when braking under adverse driving conditions. Furthermore, the driver and the front co-passenger get additional protection in dual airbags. In addition, the vehicle comes fitted with rear parking sensors that enable convenient parking.
Like the Kwid, the Wagon R features dual airbags for the front seat occupants, ABS, and EBD. Besides, the sturdy Heartect Platform ensures that the car occupants do not feel much impact during a collision. In addition, this platform provides a high degree of stability and safety by absorbing the impact.
