Brezza vs. Sonet Comparison

The Maruti Suzuki Brezza is an entry-level SUV from Maruti Suzuki that provides the utility of an SUV and the grace of a hatchback in a robust frame. Besides, the Brezza is one of the most fuel-efficient SUVs available on the market. The Kia Sonet is a comparatively new entrant to the field, but it has carved a niche for itself in the limited period of its existence. However, it is a compact SUV capable of giving the best SUVs a run for their money.

Exterior Looks

Compared to hatchbacks and sedans, the SUVs are available in more color combinations, especially the dual-tone versions. The Brezza comes in three dual-tone combos to add to the attraction feature. The Brezza has an attractive and bold personality with an indomitable expression. The LED projector headlamps and the dual-function LED DRLs make the vehicle look bolder, sportier and delivers a more dynamic stance. The body-coloured bumpers with the black skirting at the bottom enhance the overall beauty of the Brezza.

Like the Brezza, the Kia Sonet is also available in three dual-tone versions. However, it offers a better colour range of seven more single-tone colours. The flared wheel arches and the muscular sides make this vehicle look more robust than its images show. The Crown Jewel headlamps illuminate the road brightly and highlight the vehicle’s aggressive frontal fascia. The voice-controlled sunroof is another significant attraction that can tilt the scales in its favour.

Interiors and Comfort

Generally, Maruti Suzuki hatchbacks are compact and offer less space. However, the Brezza being an SUV brings spacious interiors that allow five people to travel comfortably in it for long distances. The black-coloured interior trims match the upholstery and the cabin ambience. In addition, the Maruti Suzuki Brezza features a decent infotainment system that includes an audio player to churn out your favourite tunes on your long drives. On the technology front, the Brezza offers the i-Create feature that allows you to personalise your Brezza and glam it up.

While the Kia Sonet has sporty exteriors, it also offers comfortable interiors in the rear-door sunshade curtain to protect you from the sun. Furthermore, the UVO connectivity feature distinguishes the Sonet from the Brezza. This vehicle comes with 58 connected features: AI Voice Command, OTA map updates, and a voice-assisted sunroof. In addition, the Sonet offers unbeatable technological features in the 26.03cm touchscreen infotainment and 10.67cm colour cluster. The air purifier feature is another innovative feature present in the Sonet but not in the Brezza.

Engine and Performance

The Maruti Suzuki Brezza features a 1.5L K-Series engine that provides outstanding fuel efficiency and superior NVH to ensure a smooth ride all the way. The Brezza engine pairs with manual and automatic transmission systems, depending on the engine configuration. The Progressive Smart Hybrid technology is another highlighting feature present on the Brezza. The Maruti Suzuki SUV delivers a healthy 17.03kmpl on the petrol MT variant and up to 18.76kmpl on the AT version.
Unlike the Brezza that features a single engine for all its variants, the Sonet offers three engine options for its different trims. The refined 1.5L CRDi Diesel engine powers the 6-speed MT version that delivers 100ps power and the first-in-segment 6-speed Advanced AT version (115ps power). The 6iMT and 7DCT Smartstream variants draw their power from the powerful G1.0 T-GDi Petrol engine. Finally, the basic 5-speed MT pairs with the Advanced Smartstream G1.2 petrol engine to deliver the power of 83ps.

Ride, Handling, and Safety

For an SUV, the Brezza does not offer the expected high-quality safety features. However, it does offer dual airbags for front-seat passengers. In addition, the ABS and EBD features are present in almost all vehicles today. However, the Brezza is built on the TECT platform that allows for an impact absorbing structure to ensure a reliable drive.

In comparison, the Sonet offers better security features as it is built on a high-strength steel structure to provide comprehensive safety. Besides, the Sonet ensures the safety of all passengers by including six airbags. The standard SUV safety features like ESC, VSM, ABS, and HAC are available on the Sonet. Front parking sensors enable the driver to park the vehicle properly without any hassles.

Verdict

Performance-wise, the Brezza has its nose ahead, but it does not provide outstanding safety features. The Brezza is available in the pricing range of Rs 7.51 lakhs to Rs 11.26 lakhs. On the other hand, the Sonet pricing starts at Rs 6.79 lakhs and goes up to 12.19 lakhs. Though the Sonet offers a cheaper model, it does not come with all the high-end features. The high-end variant is the one that comes with UVO connectivity and other top features. However, the Brezza offers an extensive range of servicing options. Thus, the choice should be one of personal preference.
