Jeep vs. XUV500 vs. Alcazar Comparison

When it comes to off-road driving, nothing can be better than driving an SUV. You have innumerable SUV models out there on the Indian roads to compare. The Jeep Compass qualifies as an adventurer’s paradise because of its spaciousness and the luxury it offers. The XUV500 is a class apart because of its sturdy frame and imposing personality. At the same time, the Hyundai Alcazar is class personified from almost every angle you look at it. These SUVs present excellent options before you with their utility value, high-quality safety, excellent features, and classy looks.

Exterior Looks

The Jeep Compass comes in five variants and eight exciting metallic colours, with each one of them capable of making a lasting impression on your mind. The striking feature of the Jeep Compass is its two-toned dark-grey contrast roof that sets this SUV from the rest of the pack. The LED package projector headlamps and the striking alloy design accentuate its aesthetic appeal to the next level. The body and wheel cladding stand out as designer features. The distinctive wheel arches and the signature LED headlamps make a bold statement.

The XUV500 is a worthy competitor to the Jeep Compass in many ways. The bold chrome grille makes a unique style statement. Similarly, the bigger, sporty alloys give the vehicle an imposing stance. The diamond-cut design exudes class enabling you to identify the vehicle from almost anywhere. The Mahindra XUV500 comes in six stunning colours to make a long-lasting impression on everyone’s minds.

The Hyundai Alcazar is available in eight exciting metal colours with two dual-tone variants. The premium stance separates it from the rest of the pack comfortably. The dark chrome exterior signature cascading grille makes a forceful statement as the vehicle announces its presence on the roads. The trio-beam headlamps illuminate the roads and add to the overall elegance, and the fog lamps enhance visibility in dim lighting conditions. Other exciting exteriors include a side footstep, a twin-tip exhaust, puddle lamps with the Hyundai logo projection, and the most extended wheelbase amongst other Hyundai vehicles.

Interior Looks

If the exteriors are stylish, the interiors have a contemporary look with a premium finish. One of the sterling highlights of the Jeep Compass is the 8-way electronically adjustable leather seats that come with ventilation features and memory functions. In addition, the dual-tone panoramic sunroof and the 9-speaker Uconnect audio system add to the excitement and entertainment levels on your long drives. The Uconnect app supports Apple CarPlay and Android Auto and connects seamlessly to your Compass. Besides, this app helps you get the vehicle status and detailed trip analytics, driver analysis, and other features like stolen vehicle assist, etc.

It is great to have a tough exterior, but the interiors should be comfortable, as well. The Mahindra XUV500 boasts superb-looking interiors, with its upholstery serving as a perfect contrast to the interior trims. The electric sunroof adds the necessary spice and opens out a heavenly view of what’s outside. The powered driver seat comes with 6-way adjustable options and offers the perfect lumbar support adjustment to ensure the ideal driving position. The soft-touch dashboard and the door trims take the luxury quotient to the next level. Apple CarPlay and Android Auto connectivity are standard offerings on all XUV500s. The Arkamys Enhanced audio system with its strategically-placed speakers adds to the overall excitement.

The Hyundai Alcazar offers 6-seat and 7-seat variants with exquisite interiors that match the Mahindra XUV500 and the Jeep Compass. The dual-tone dashboard gels beautifully with the leather-wrapped steering wheel and adds to the overall interior ambience. The steering wheel shape looks beautiful while allowing you ample room to stretch your legs and operate the controls. In addition, the top-end versions feature Advanced Blue Link connectivity with OTA map updates. Other excellent interior features include wireless charging, 2nd-row head cushioning, third-row AC vents with speed control options, adjustable and foldable seats, and many more.

Engine and Specifications

The Jeep Compass is a powerful SUV that drives on the strength of a 2.0L Multi-Air Turbo I-4 engine that delivers 170hp power and 350Nm torque when paired with a 6-speed manual transmission system. The Compass also has a petrol variant running on a similar petrol engine capable of delivering power of 160hp and a torque of 250Nm. You also get a 9-speed automatic transmission version of the Compass. The 4WD Jeep Compass can handle the most challenging of terrains with consummate ease.

The Mahindra XUV500 draws its immense power from the mHawk155 diesel engine with a displacement capacity of 2173cc. It delivers maximum power of 114kW and torque of 350Nm. The transmission systems include a 6-speed synchromesh and 6-speed automatic transmission to deliver excellent mileage.

The 1.5L CRDi diesel engine powers the Hyundai Alcazar. This engine offers excellent power of 115ps and a top torque of 250Nm while delivering mileage of 20.4kmpl. The vehicle runs on a 6-speed automatic transmission to deliver an exhilarating driving experience. Besides, it also offers a 6-speed manual transmission. Three driver modes, Comfort, Eco, and Sport, offer exciting possibilities. Similarly, it offers three traction control modes, snow, sand, and mud, to negotiate the toughest of terrains comfortably.

Ride, Handling, and Safety

The Jeep Compass offers full-length side curtain airbags besides the frontal airbags for the driver and the front-seat passenger. The Electronic Parking Brake adapts to the driver’s actions, with the release system sense if it is safe to disengage automatically. Besides offering high-quality all-weather and all-terrain tyres, the Jeep Compass comes with a tyre pressure monitoring system. Other features like ESC, remote keyless entry, rearview parking camera, and the unique bird’s eye view camera enhance safety.

The Mahindra XUV500 is available in several variants, with the top-end versions coming with all the safety features required for a high-quality driving experience. They include ABS with EBD, crash protection, disc brakes, dual airbags, ESP, emergency call options, fog lamps, Hill-hold and descent controls, manual override, side-impact beams, curtain airbags, speed alert, reverse parking cameras, and many more.

Besides the standard safety features present on the Alcazar, this vehicle offers front and rear parking sensors to enable hassle-free parking in the tightest spaces. Besides, it offers a reverse parking camera function to assist the driver. Vehicle Stability Management ensures the vehicle remains stable under all conditions. ESC and Hill Assist Control are features available on all the variants. The rear wheels get disc brakes for additional safety.

CarBike360 Says

The Jeep Compass Sport Variant is available at Rs 17.19 lakhs, whereas the top-end Limited 80th Anniversary edition comes at Rs 26.96 lakhs.

The Mahindra XUV500 comes at an attractive pricing of Rs 14.63 lakhs and goes up to Rs 18.78 lakhs to compete with the Jeep Compass on an even footing.

The Hyundai Alcazar prices start from Rs 16.30 lakhs and go up to Rs 20.15 lakhs in an extensive range of variants. While the Mahindra XUV500 is the best on the pricing front, it is not a recommended vehicle because Mahindra plans to remove the XUV500 from its fleet and replace it with the XUV700. The Hyundai Alcazar and Jeep Compass are similarly priced and come with high-quality features. If you look for traversing hilly terrain, the Jeep should be the best vehicle for you. However, if your space is the urban jungle, the Alcazar seems to be a better bet.
