Honda launched the fifth generation All New Honda City in July 2020 as a much-improved version of its iconic Honda City model. This new sedan offers the highest levels of luxury, control, and connectivity. Honda has launched three variants, with the petrol versions getting MT and CVT modes, whereas the diesel versions do not come with CVT.
The lowest-priced petrol model is the V MT variant at Rs 10,99,967 (Delhi, ex-showroom). The diesel counterpart is available at 12,59,967 (Delhi, ex-showroom).
The highest-priced petrol variant is ZX CVT at Rs 14,74,967 (Delhi, ex-showroom). The corresponding diesel MT model comes at Rs 14,94,967 (Delhi, ex-showroom).

All New Honda City Exterior
The All New Honda City comes with a dignified stature and superior technological prowess. The front fascia wide grille presents the vehicle with a solid wing face and elevates the car to a prominent level. The new design features a well-sculpted body with a full LED headlight arrangement comprising a 9-LED array inline shell integrated with LED DRLs and an L-shaped LED turn indicator.
The vehicle looks attractive from the rear side with the Z-shaped 3D wrap around LED tail lamps and LED side marker lights to enhance the vehicle’s sleek design.
The R16 Diamond Cut alloy wheels lend an element of elegance to the All New Honda City. This stylish sedan comes equipped with a one-touch electric sunroof to complete the elegant exteriors.
The All New Honda City comes in five metallic shades, Radian Red, Platinum White Pearl, Modern Steel, Golden Brown, and Lunar Silver.
All New Honda City Interior
The All New Honda City comes with luxurious interiors accentuated by the 'SO-KAI' of Invigorating cockpit design that offers excellent legroom for the driver and the front-seat co-passenger. The driver has a dynamic view of the road ahead, with the windshield sloping beautifully towards the front. The steering wheel is placed at a perfect height with the instrument panel in full view to provide maximum comfort for the driver.
The premium leather seats and the hand-crafted tailoring adds to the opulence and luxury to give a classy look to the All New Honda City interiors. Honda has always believed in the "Man Maximum – Machine Minimum" concept when designing the interiors. Hence, you get tremendous space and comfort with trays and pockets placed at an easy-to-reach distance of all passengers.
The highlights of this sedan's interiors include smartphone sub-pockets on the seat back pockets, general smartphone tray, driver-side coin pocket, rear seat armrest with cup holders, front-seat armrest with storage options, adequate bottle holder options, and a spacious glove box. The illuminated boot with a capacity of 506 litres is incredible.
This luxurious sedan features a 17.7cm HD full-color TFT screen with a driver information interface. It is a 1st in segment feature. Other similar features include digital speed and cruise control display, Eco Assist and Econ Mode indicators, 8-speaker premium surround system, 20.3-inches advanced touchscreen display, and Apple CarPlay and Android smartphone connectivity.
Other convenience features include LED map and rear reading lamps, a fully automatic climate control system, click-free AC dials, driver seat height adjustment feature, rear AC vents, and rear windscreen sunshade.
All New Honda City Engine and Performance
The All New Honda City features a petrol and diesel engine option. The 1.5L i-VTEC DOHC engine with VTC (Variable Timing Control) reduces friction, lowers emissions, and improves combustion efficiency. This engine delivers 89kW power and 145Nm torque. The petrol engine variant features CVT and delivers an efficient mileage of 18.4kmpl. This sedan also offers a 6-speed manual transmission system in petrol and diesel variants.
The 1.5L i-DTEC DOHC diesel engine conforms to BS6 emission norms while delivering 73kW power and 200Nm torque. The diesel engine version delivers a mileage of 24.1kmpl.
All New Honda City Ride, Handling, and Safety
The crucial safety features include the 1st in segment remote engine start facility (for the CVT models alone), automatic power window with keyless entry, walk-away auto-lock, and engine start/stop with touch sensor.
This luxurious sedan offers 1st in the segment ‘Lane Watch’ camera to ensure against damage protection. The top-end variants feature six airbags to make it safe for all passengers. Some of the exciting 1st in the segment offerings include Agile Handling Assist. Other standard safety features include a tyre pressure monitoring system, rear parking sensors, emergency stop signal, hill-start assist, multi-angle rearview camera, auto headlamps, head restraints with 3-point ELR seat belts, and ABS EBD, Ace body structure, variable intermittent wipers, and rear Isofix child seat anchorage.
This Honda model is compatible with Alexa as an industry-first offering. This ingenious IT platform with 32 exciting features offers heightened safety and convenience to its occupants.
All New Honda City, Competition Check
The All New Honda City is a high-end sedan that does not have much competition from the medium-level cars like the Hyundai Creta, Maruti Ciaz, The Honda City 4th generation, or the Toyota Yaris. The ideal competition for the All New Honda City 5th generation comes from Kia Seltos and Skoda Rapid TSI variants.
