Citroen is ready to launch the all-new Citroen C3 SUV in India. Although the details are not entirely out yet, we are soon expecting the launch in the domestic markets. Let's have a look at what we know so far.

Citroen is all set to launch its second car in the Indian domestic market with the launch of the 2022 Citroen C3 SUV. The launch most probably will be in the coming months, expectations though are that the C3 will be launched next month. Previously, the French carmaker launched the C5 Aircross SUV in India back in the year 2020. The aim is to take on the likes of Tata Punch in the medium, affordable SUV segment. The facility in Thiruvallur, near Chennai, is already working on the production of the Citroen C3 SUV and the bookings would most probably commence towards the end of the month or in early June.

Last year, Citroen revealed the C3 SUV for India and the French called the car “Made in India for Indians”. This car has been spotted testing quite a few times and through those test mules, we deduced some major specs and features that the C3 will have after coming to the Indian market.

The C3 SUV will sport a front face having Citroen grille LED DRLs and LED headlights. The bumper though would be a little different from the ones that were there in Citroen C5 Aircross SUV and are surrounded by the thick fog-lamp casing. The alloy wheels design also differentiates from its predecessor C5 Aircross SUV. And what we can see through the images of C3, seems like it also does not have the big plastic side claddings seen on the bigger model. It also does not sport the body-colored ORVMS either. The rear side is kept a minimalistic look while getting a fresh set of taillights along with a bold and chunky bumper.

The new C3 is based on the Common Modular Platform (CMP) having a wheelbase of 2,540mm. Citroen has made it sure and even promised its passengers who would be sitting in the back seats that they too will have enough legroom for themselves. They went on to say that, “passengers sitting on the backseat will have one of the best legroom in the segment”. And with 653mm of legroom that seems quite possible. The front side will have 1418mm for elbows and 991mm for the headroom.

This new car will have a ground clearance of 180mm which is slightly less than that of Tata Punch and apart from this, the Citroen C3 will have a 10m turning radius, making it an easily maneuverable vehicle. The SUV also has a good storage space to offer with a total of 315 liters of luggage space. Apart from that, there is also a 1-liter glove box, 4-liter storage spaces in the cabin, two front cup holders, a storage compartment in the center console, and two rear cupholders that are convertible to smartphone mounts. There is a 10-inch infotainment system that is fully touchscreen, which most probably will be taken from C5 Aircross units, and that comes mated with Android Auto and Apple CarPlay compatibility.

Now, if we talk about the powertrain, Citroen most probably will pack the C3 with two options of the petrol engine. With a 1.2 liter naturally aspirated engine, there can be an availability of 1.0-liter turbocharged unit as well. There are already some countries where-in Citroen has launched the C3 e.g, in Brazil C3 was launched earlier this year and it came out with 1.0-litre three-cylinder petrol engine and a 1.6-liter four-cylinder petrol engine. Also, in Argentina Citroen C3 will come powered with a 1.2-liter three-cylinder petrol engine which is used in the new Peugeot 208. In the Peugeot 208, the engine used, derives 82 hp and 118Nm of maximum torque.
