A South Korean company that gained international recognition for producing little automobiles like the Matiz and Nubira. Due to financial difficulties, it was acquired by General Motors in 2001, and its vehicles were thereafter sold under the Chevrolet name. In 2002, it sold the majority of its assets to General Motors for $1.2 billion after experiencing financial difficulties, and it became a subsidiary of the American corporation. The company was rebranded GM Korea in 2011, thereby eliminating the "Daewoo" name.
