With their popular S1 Pro, S1 Air, and S1 X electric scooters, Ola Electric is poised to launch their first electric motorcycle in the first half of fiscal year 2026.

  • Introducing four models: Cruiser, Adventure, Roadster, and Diamondhead.
  • Roadster features sporty design with chunky tires, USD forks, and sleek LED lighting.
  • Promises the most powerful motor on an Indian e-motorcycle, with larger battery packs.

Ola Electric, leading the Indian electric two-wheeler market with over 30% market share, is now venturing into electric motorcycles. Having established a strong presence with their S1 Pro, S1 Air, and S1 X electric scooters, the company aims to launch its first electric motorcycle in the first half of fiscal year 2026.

Upcoming Models and Launch Timeline

In its DRHP for IPO, Ola Electric announced

  • Deliveries of the Ola S1 X+ commenced in December 2023.
  • Deliveries of the Ola S1 X (2 kWh) and S1 X (3 kWh) to begin in the first half of fiscal 2025.
  • New motorcycle models, Diamondhead, Adventure, Roadster, and Cruiser, to launch in the first half of fiscal 2026.

Strategic Positioning and Market Potential

Ola Electric’s move into the electric motorcycle segment aims to capture a broader customer base across various segments. While electric scooters are booming in India, the electric motorcycle market is still niche with limited options. Ola’s expertise in electric scooters positions them to become a major player in the electric motorcycle market, potentially accelerating the adoption of electric motorcycles in India.

New Models and Design Innovations

Ola Electric plans to introduce four electric motorcycles: Ola Cruiser, Ola Adventure, Ola Roadster, and Ola Diamondhead. The recent patent filing for the Ola Roadster marks a significant advancement, following the unveiling of the MI Cyber Racer concept.

Roadster Design Highlights:

Bold and sporty aesthetic with chunky tires, alloy wheels, USD forks, and twin-disc brake setup.
Sleek wraparound LED headlamp and integrated LED winkers on the tank shrouds.
Features inspired by the MI Cyber Racer concept, including a futuristic digital instrument panel, three-step seat design with a charging pod, and a flush-fit tail light unit.

Platform and Performance Promises

Ola Electric plans to utilize a common platform for all four motorcycle models, ensuring consistency in battery and mid-mounted motor specifications. Each model will offer distinct power and range options to cater to diverse riding needs. CEO Bhavish Aggarwal promises groundbreaking performance, boasting that the upcoming e-bikes will feature the most powerful electric motor seen on an Indian motorcycle, with larger battery packs compared to their scooters. The company emphasizes minimal parts-sharing with its existing scooter range, underlining its commitment to innovation and exceeding customer expectations.

Carbike360 Says

Ola Electric’s entry into the electric motorcycle market marks a significant strategic shift. By leveraging their existing market dominance and technological expertise, they are poised to become a major player in this niche segment, potentially transforming the landscape and accelerating the adoption of electric motorcycles in India.
