Key Highlights:

This compact SUV has a gross vehicle weight of 1816 Kg, to ensure the driver’s safety; the Nexon EV comes with its comprehensive airbag system.
Long-term safety solutions are also included in the Nexon EV, with standard equipment with frontal airbags, side head curtain airbags, and side chest airbags. Furthermore, the SE model contains belt pretensioners and load-limiters to reduce the possible bodily harm on impact by the vehicle to the driver.
As for knee and side pelvis airbags, well, they are missing in the Nexon, as in many other electric cars of this segment, the above-said safety measure in Tata Motors seems to promise a strong focus on the occupant’s safety. The BNCAP testing procedures will assess safety aspects, and dealers interested in the Nexon EV model will be able to obtain relevant results to make sound decisions when choosing an electric vehicle model.

The new Tata Nexon EV, specified for the year 2024, would continue being safe for all its occupants as this would promote for passengers the same level of protection as the driver. As with the driver side, the passenger area has the prerequisite airbag settings of frontal, side head curtain and side chest ones to offer protection in case of an accident. Belt pretensioners and load-limiters are also additional components offered for the passenger seats, which add to the occupant safety and protection.
There is no provision of knee and side pelvis airbags, but Tata Motors has planned to concentrate its efforts on strengthening important safety zones that are common to the industry practices of this segment of vehicles. It means gains the necessary safety and stability of the car for the occupants while keeping the design affordable and realistic.
Realizing the necessity of child car safety, the Nexon EV has standard fitment of ISOFIX anchor points for both rear seat passengers to ensure proper mounting of child restraint systems. Moreover, the side passenger being the rear passenger, is protected by the head curtain airbags which are an indication of primary safety for all occupants, even those who are at the back.
The new Tata Nexon EV model to be released in 2024 has yet another feature when it comes to protecting its occupants – safety assist technologies. The ESP or the Electronic Stability Control is a vital standard that has the capability to control vehicle motions during critical staking manoeuvres to ensure that there may not be a loss of control and accident occurring. This feature may be especially useful in electric cars, since new vehicle types can have quite different weight and driving dynamics.
Apart from this, the Nexon EV comes equipped with several active safety systems; it also offers protection to pedestrians, and seat belt reminder for all the seating positions. These features show that Tata Motors has gone extra mile to ensure the safety of individuals while in vehicles and not only focus on occupant protection measures.
In order to be able to state the necessary claims, Tata Motors has clearly defined that the Nexon EV’s safety ratings are applicable only to certain variants of the car. Various Long Range (LR) modified variants have been assessed for safety, such as CRE, EMP, EMP DK, FEA, and FEA DK, while the Medium Range (MR) variants include CRE, EMP, and FEA models that have also been tested for safety.
In the present case, by offering clear and detailed information on the variants available and their suitability, Tata Motors successfully supports consumer choice in this aspect. Such level of disclosure goes a long way in strengthening the safety profile of the Nexon EV in the compact electric vehicles’ class.
Therefore, consumer acceptance of the Tata Nexon EV is expected to be high due to its safety features, which are evidenced by a 5-star rating from the Bharat New Car Assessment Program (BNCAP). The vehicle received an extremely impressive score of 29.86 out of 32 in the AOP (Adult Occupant Protection) and the COP (Child Occupant Protection) result is 44.95 out of 49.
Specifically, the Adult Occupant Protection scores were rated as follows: Frontal Offset Deformable Barrier Test: 14.26 out of 16.00, and Side Movable Deformable Barrier Test: 15.60 out of 16.00. Tata Motors goes a step further to guarantee the safety of all occupants regardless of their age because the design policy of the car is to ensure this aspect of safety is met.
By incorporating basic safety features and affording best-in-class assist technologies along with obtaining excellent ratings for occupant safety, thus the Nexon EV provided the benchmark for protection in the electric automobile segment whether it be for local or inter-city usage while giving the consumers a sense of security in their purchasing decision along with a reliable transportation solution.
