Car sales in India are expected to reach a new record high in 2023, driven by the strong demand for SUVs and MPVs, as well as the recovery of the economy from the pandemic. The first half of 2023 saw a 10% growth in passenger vehicle sales, with an estimated 2.1 million units sold. This was the third consecutive six-month period in which sales grew in double digits, indicating a sustained recovery from the low base of 2020-21, when sales were severely affected by the lockdowns and supply chain disruptions.
