Key Highlights:
Hyundai has unveiled a teaser for its upcoming entry-level electric SUV, the Inster, set to make its global debut at the Busan International Motor Show later this month.
The Inster, an electric version based on Hyundai's popular mini-SUV Casper, boasts a longer wheelbase and some unique design elements. Despite these changes, it retains some familiar features from the Casper, such as the round headlamp setup with circular LED DRLs.
Design and Features
A key highlight of the Inster is the new Pixel lighting setup, which is also featured on the Ioniq 5 in India and other recent EVs from Hyundai globally. The teaser also reveals a fully digital driver's display among other interior design elements.
Performance and Range
While specific details about the EV powertrain are yet to be disclosed, Hyundai has confirmed that the Inster will offer an estimated range of 315 km on a single charge, similar to the Tata Tiago EV available in India.
The Inster will be shown to the public for the first time at the Busan International Motor Show 2024 in Korea, which runs from June 27 to July 7. The electric SUV is anticipated to launch first in Hyundai’s home market, followed by a rollout in Europe.
India Launch Plans
In India, Hyundai Motor India is set to start production of its first locally produced EV, the Creta EV, by the end of 2024 at its Chennai facility. By 2030, Hyundai aims to introduce five additional EV models in India. These six battery electric vehicles (BEVs) will cover various segments and body styles, including SUVs, sedans, and compact utility vehicles (CUVs).
